Why can I only upload images?

It's a matter of security. It's a huge risk to allow just anything to be uploaded to a server, and could compromise everyone's work (not only mine). As of right now, I am only able to verify the validity of jpeg, gif, and png files to ensure that they are not malicious files, and so will only allow them to be uploaded. In the future, I may consider allowing the .doc, .wpd, and .pdf extensions to allow you to attach various documents to your story if I can write routines that verify them. For now it remains only images though (sorry for the inconvenience).

How do I format my text/add notes while creating entries?

---italic text - type "[i]" then the text you want in italics, then type "[/i]"
---bold text - type "[b]" then the text you want in bold, then type "[/b]"
---type "[p]" for a new paragraph
---to create a link, type [linkto: PLACE_LINK_LOCATION(URL)_HERE]LINK DISPLAY TEXT[/link]
---to create a indentation, type "[tab]"
---to make a new line type "[newline]" OR "[n]"
---To create a note for you or your readers (notes are information [or whatever you'd like] that appears about the specified text and appear in a popup box to give the reader that much more information [or anything] about the story] - type [note: NOTE_TEXT]NOTE_LINK_TEXT[/note]
---underline text - type "[u]" then the text you want underlined, then type "[/u]"
---[character]character name[/character] or [char]character name[/char] will automatically enter the character into the database for further editing at another time

I cannot log in. What is wrong?

Check your browser and/or firewall to make sure that cookies are enabled. If they are not, you will not be able to log in, post entries, etc.

The preferences page doesn't have any affect on the way stories look or the preferences page doesn't work

Besides problems that I am aware of, there could be a variety of problems. However, javascript must be enabled in your web browser for the page to work (I am working on a non-javascript version as well) the page will not work. For those of you running windows xp and internet explorer, security has been tightened down if you have downloaded service pack 2 (or have automatic updates enabled) make sure that the browser is allowing javascript on storybuilder.
3)You must have a CSS compliant web browser

If you believe that none of these are problems for you, then contact me.

I cannot read anything because the text is too small or the page extends outside my viewing window

Sorry, bad web design on my part. Some parts of the site should scale, so try your browser's text size setting. Otherwise, for now, I can only say sorry and that I will soon provide text size and screen resolution optimization (the reason it isn't all scalable is so I can have a certain level of control over the design) so that everyone can read everything on the site.

What is the difference between Quick Stories and Bookmarks?

Quick Stories are merely favorite stories you would like easy access to and take you to the beginning of a story, but bookmarks are set wherever you like in a story by clicking the "add/update bookmark" link on a part of the story. This allows you to keep track of where you are in a long story, or where you are in a story you are writing with someone, etc.
